Greg Oden

With the first pick in the 2007 NBA draft, the Portland Trailblazers selected Greg Oden out of Ohio. The Trailblazers who already had an injury curse that haunted them in the past with injuries to their stars like Bill Walton, Arvydas Sabonis and Sam Bowie(who they drafted instead of Michael Jordan) causing them years of misery which could have been golden eras for the franchise.

In 2007 the Trailblazers had the first pick in the draft and selected Greg Oden, a 7'ft centre out of Ohio who averaged 15.7 ppg and almost 10rpg, leading his team to the NCAA championship game. Greg Oden came into the league as a once in a generation talent as described by Steve Kerr.

The curse struck again, in September 2007, Oden had surgery for an ailing right knee causing him to miss his entire rookie season, the rest of his career looked no different with him playing a total of just 105 games, appearing in just 3 seasons.

To make things worse, the second pick in the draft was Kevin Durant, future MVP and 2 time champion and an actual generational talent!!
